The Tropen is a light-weight sleeping bag with an extremely small packing size and minimum weight. Its remarkable feature is its vapor permeability which is very important for hot and humid tropical nights. The Shelltrans shell fits loosely over the inner structure and provides an extra layer of insulation with no cold seams. This construction ensures warmth for cool, foggy nights. In warmer weather the bottom part of the two-way zipper can be opened for ventilation. The hood is equipped with a mosquito net which can be folded out of the flap if required (the mosquito net is in the front part of the bag and stored behind the flap with press studs) The net can easily be attached around the hood by means of the small non-snagging zipper.

"I also have the Carinthia Defense 4, the partner bag for the Carinthia sleep system. I use them together or separately, depending on weather, season, etc. I've found that the Carinthia bags are also large enough to work with the modular sleep system the U. S. provides. I've combined these bags in several ways, giving me unlimited options for any situation. The Tropen is excellent and does everything it's supposed to."
"By far my favorite sleeping bag! Excellent material, very comfortable and highly recommend. For a 5’10 145lb male the medium is just about perfect, I would like a hair more room but other than that it’s nothing to complain about! I did have an issue with the mosquito net snagging, getting stuck and tearing but let me tell you the customer service here was phenomenal. They responded in a timely manner, requested a picture, and after getting a response from carinthia they offered a full refund or replacement. I went the replacement route as I think the bag is fantastic. Bag is on its way back and I’ve already spread the word to many friends that the only thing better than it is the customer service here. In a world where that’s becoming harder and harder to come by, I’d highly recommend shopping here as even if you have any kind of issues I am more than confident this company will take care of you and make things right!
