New Jacket From Outdoor Research Infiltrates U.S. Elite

Outdoor Research has entered the world of high-end tactical hardshell jackets with its latest release, the Infiltrator Jacket. High quality often comes with a expensive price tag, but the Outdoor Research Infiltrator has plenty of features to help ease that sticker shock. The secret sauce of this jacket is that it’s Stretch Gore-tex!

MAGIC MATERIALS - GORETEX & FLEX2FIT

The key part of the Infiltrator jacket's construction is the use of GORE-TEX® FLEX2FIT® stretch material. Arranged in several panels to, FLEX2FIT® maintains the level of weather resistance you’d expect from an all-weather jacket, but increases mobility. For Outdoor Research jackets, underarm stretch panels are nothing new, but they  have gone a step further and added panels to the chest and upper back of the jacket, so upper body movement like climbing or lifting is less restrictive in the Infiltrator jacket. The rest of the jacket is GORE-TEX® and features the impeccable construction Outdoor Research is known for with full seam-taping and lamination throughout

OUTDOOR RESEARCH DETAILED DESIGN

Outdoor Research has stuffed the Infiltrator with a ton of smart features. The jacket hood incorporates a combination of the aforementioned stretch material and a “Halo-Hood” drawcord system so you can comfortably wear the hood over a helmet. Perfect for a day on the mountainside, or when you need to bust out your ballistic helmet. The focus on external gear compatibility also extends to the front pockets; they’re higher up on the jacket so you can use a climbing harness or pack belt and still get at your stuff. The interior of these pockets is mesh, so you can use them for airflow if they’re empty.  Then there’s the rear vents, which are dual use: zip down for more airflow, or zip up so you can access a concealed handgun, belt kit, or your pants pockets. Finally, there’s the usual quality hardware you can expect from Outdoor Research like YKK Aquaguard zippers and, an elastic drawcord hem .

THE INFILTRATOR JACKET GIVES YOU THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

The Infiltrator jacket is a great item for the outdoor adventurer or the tactical professional. Lightweight construction and a close fit make it perfect for layering, and you’ll have no problem wearing packs or climbing gear. On the tactical side of things, the Infiltrator's mobility-focused design and venting mean that you’ll still be plenty agile while wearing kits like plate carriers and chest rigs, while still being able to use the jacket’s pockets and other features.

U.S. Elite recently visited Outdoor Research, so if you’d like a more visual rundown of what the Infiltrator has to offer, check out this video:
