This package is not to be opened except in cases of emergencies. Furthermore, opening this kit will prevent the Marine from replacing the contents into the pouch. Once the Trauma Kit vacuum seal is broken, individual consumable items in the Trauma Kit cannot be requisitioned. A Trauma Kit must be ordered. Within the Trauma Kit is the wound pack known as QuikClot. This item has a shelf life of three years from the date of packaging, marked on the outside of the vacuum-sealed bag. Units should coordinate with its Consolidated Issue Facility (CFI) for replacement of expired Trauma Kits. Additionally, Marines should use caution when using the QuikClot agent. Exposure to water will cause extreme heat and possible burns if not applied in accordance with the package's directions.
