Benchmade took the Stryker and gave it a boost. With the new Nitrous assist opening mechanism, one of your most cherished knives just got better. The Nitrous mechanism is built directly into the liners, which propels the blade open with ease. Benchmade also upgraded to the more tactile G10 handle scales, thumb studs and an overall cool new look. The 912 and 913 deliver on what it means to be a Black Class knife.

Benchmade Design ﾖ Made in the USAD2 - An air-hardened tool steel, which offers good corrosion resistance and excellent mileage in wear resistance. A good choice for hard use applications.
Nitrous Assist ﾖ Another patented Benchmade exclusive, the Nitrous boosts the blade with ease. As the blade is closed the two torsion arms, which run the length of the handle, liners are secured in place and make contact with the blade tang. As tension against the blade tang, the user rotates the blade open to a 30-degree angle, the torsion arms take over and continue the blade opening process on its own. The huge advantages to the Nitrous design over other similar concepts, is that the blade must be rotated open beyond a 30-degree angle, which offers added user control.
Tanto - Most tantos seen on the American cutlery market are Americanized formats. Like the Japanese tanto, the Americanized tanto has a high point in-line with the pivot. A flat grind is applied to the point, leaving it very thick and extraordinarily strong. This thick area helps absorb the impact from piercing, as the tanto was originally designed for armor piercing. The front edge meets the bottom edge at an obtuse angle rather than curving to meet it as seen in the Japanese tanto. The only negative aspect of the tanto blade shape is the cutting surface area is sacrificed to gain tip strength.
