- Great tech boot Review by Samsonite
-
Value Quality Price Great tech boot for spring or fall alpine climbs. They are extremely light, and the half-shank allows for the perfect amount of flex. I got them to climb 5.9/5.10- alpine rock without having to switch to tech shoes in colder weather at altitude. The rubber is great and they toe-in on small holds really well. I can't speak to their ability on ice yet.
For fit, I have narrow feet and they really hug my midsole. I sized them how I would size climbing shoes, which is 1.5US smaller than my winter expedition boots (Expes), and they fit perfect with 2 fingers behind my heel when my toes touch. People with a wide foot might want to look elsewhere, or really hope that they break in after a lot of miles.
4 stars comes from an absolute gem of a boot, but the price is likely a down side for lots of people. If you aren't climbing technical routes, I don't think the price could be justified. If you love climbing easier stuff in the mid-seasons and have relatively narrow feet, this is your shoe!(Posted on 7/19/12)
