How the Tanka Bar came to be
When Tanka started working on the recipe for Tanka Bar, they were trying
to meld authentic Native ingredients and flavors into a bar that would
honor their past, yet fit how we live today. They started with the
traditional recipe for wasna, the original Native trail mix, and thought
to modernize it. They tried all sorts of ideas to improve on wasna, but
each time they added something to the mix, they went further away from
what they intended. It could not be improved! They came full circle to
see that the traditional flavors were perfect. The Tanka Bar is simply

Tanka is convinced their Ancestors knew what they were doing. In times
when Native Americans sustained themselves with wasna and other
traditional foods, heart disease, diabetes, or obesity were virtually
